Why do you add salt into recipes?

Salt consists of sodium and chloride, which are both essential nutrients for dogs and cats. These minerals play several important roles in the body, including nerve impulse transmission, hydration and fluid balance, acid-base (pH) regulation, and immune system function.

For these reasons, all of our recipes are supplemented with salt. The enjoyable taste of salt may be an additional side benefit, too.

Of course, too much salt can be a bad thing in dogs and cats, just as it is in human beings. However, the amount of salt we use in our recipes is safe and appropriate to meet the sodium and chloride needs of healthy pets, as part of nutritionally balanced diet.
