ABOUT:
Our dental clinic happens once a month and is fully operated by Smile Specialist. Smile Specialist offers a safe alternative to provide oral care for your pet without the risky and costly use of general anesthesia. The process is kind, gentle and safe and takes approximately 20 minutes. Your pet remains alert and comfortable throughout the procedure. Cleaning your pet's teeth is vital to their health. Besides causing bad breath and pain, poor oral hygiene can also cause MAJOR health issues for pets including heart, kidney and liver disease!

THE PROCESS:
The Smile Specialist veterinarian examines your pet prior to the cleaning in order to gain knowledge about the general health of your pet. Any issues or potential problems will be reported to you. Anesthesia- free dental cleanings are affordable because there are no costly blood tests. You will not be paying for anesthesia because Smile Specialist does not put your pet under. Most pets are very cooperative during the procedure. The procedure itself will take approximately 20 minutes. If for some rare reason your pet will not comply, there is no charge to you! Smile Specialist has provided their services to thousands of animals and feels confident that you will be very pleased with their results

OUR SMILE SPECIALIST DENTAL CLINIC USES ULTRASONIC TECHNOLOGY:
Many other non-anesthetic dental clinics perform manual scraping to remove tartar. This old method of manually scratching the tartar off of each tooth with a sharp instrument is superficial and cosmetic. Furthermore, hand scrapers/scalers can scratch or scrape off the smooth enamel coating on the tooth. This creates a rough surface which attracts MORE tartar, perpetuating the need for more and more frequent "scrapings".

Smile Specialist uses state of the art ultrasonic scalers. These are the instruments used in all modern veterinary clinics and hospitals and is the method of choice for today's veterinary dentists. Ultrasonic technology is what YOUR dentist or hygienist uses to clean YOUR teeth!

Whatever place you decide to go for your pets dental cleanings, for the sake of your pet's oral health, please make sure they have a vet inspect your pet's mouth and that they use an ultrasonic scaler.

SMILE SPECIALIST DENTAL CLINIC IS VETERINARY SUPERVISED:
Teeth cleaning is a medical procedure and state law requires the supervision of a licensed veterinarian. Many pet businesses offer "anesthesia-free teeth cleaning" but have NO veterinarian present. Clinics that operate without a vet are not only in violation of the law, but they cannot evaluate your pet, diagnose oral issues, prescribe medications (when needed) or medically oversee procedures. Most do not use ultrasonic technology and must resort to manual scraping.
