Our history begins in 1947, when Marcus Dahl started the business in his garage. His son, Kenneth, was discharged from the Navy on December 24, 1951 after serving a four year enlistment term. After his return home his father took him in as a partner. The Montague location was built and established as Dahl’s Coal and Feed in 1952. In 1970, Kenneth’s son, Martin Dahl, began working for the business. Shortly afterward the name was changed to Dahl’s Farm Service. In 1992, Martin and Kenneth together purchased the New Erafeed mill location, and at this time the name was changed to Tri County Feed Service, Inc.
In 1993, Martin’s son, John Dahl, began working for the business. In 1996, Kenneth retired from the company and shortly afterward Martin was named Owner and President of Tri County Feeds. In 2000, John Dahl was named General Manager of Tri County Feed Service, Inc. The focus for the New Era location was the Grain and Dairy business and our Montague location was retail.
