Vet Med Pet Foods and Supplies is a woman owned and operated business located in the beautiful town of Franklin, Massachusetts. Owner/Manager Karen Walsh took over as sole owner when her mother Lois Walsh retired in 2014 after 30 years of building the store into a town staple for pet owners. Both women are long-time residents of Franklin and have made it a priority to create a true neighborhood store experience for their many Vet Med Pet Families.

Vet Med originally included supplies for local veterinarians which is how it got its name. Today, Vet Med is well known for their commitment to providing both high quality, nutritionally advanced pet foods and trusted brand name supplies for family pets. Both Lois and Karen enjoy keeping up-to-date with the latest information coming from the veterinary and scientific communities on the best nutrition practices to keep family pets healthy and happy. This level of understanding heavily influences Karen’s stock purchases. The store carries premium recipes known for their superior ingredients and quality. Vet Med has chosen not sell products online because of Karen’s belief in personal service which only comes from an in-store experience.

In addition to providing area families with their pet foods and supplies, Vet Med is actively involved in community events, supporting local schools, and non-profit organizations that advance pet health. Vet Med and its many customers help support Vested Interest in K-9’s, a charitable organization that provides bullet and stab protective vests for law enforcement K-9’s throughout the United States. With donations from Vet Med customers, the store has helped purchase several of these vests for local Franklin and Bellingham police departments. Vet Med is also a supporter of BASK, a non-profit service dog foundation that provides and supports specially trained assistance dogs to enhance mobility and independence through canine partnerships.
