In 1992, the Burr Family rented a small building in Corrales, New Mexico, and started the Village Mercantile, a business that would grow into one of the largest feed distributing companies in the Rio Grande valley.

In the early days, the emphasis of the business was on supplying horse feed. That product line has grown to include feeds for dairy cattle, beef cattle, horses, sheep , goats, llamas, pigs, deer, dogs, cats, rabbits, wild birds, caged birds, poultry, herbivore zoo animals, and fish as well as products for the lawn and garden.

Today, the Village Mercantile Home and Farm stores enjoy a well-earned reputation for high quality, consistent feed and outstanding customer service.
