About Us

Specks Pet Supplies is an independent chain of neighborhood pet supply stores located in the central Indiana area. Specks is locally owned and operated and has been ever since we opened our first store in Avon, Indiana in 1990. Today, Specks boasts 12 stores in the Indianapolis and nearby surrounding areas.

We have experienced employees that are well versed in pet nutrition, pet care, and the products we carry. The majority of our employees have been with us for several years. They truly are animal lovers and experts!

Our stores are well stocked with a wide variety of foods, treats, and supplies to cater to all your pet’s needs. If there is something you need that you can’t find, ask us. Unlike many of our competitors, we are more than happy to special order any available item especially for you and your pet.

We do not sell cats or dogs but all of our stores work with local rescue groups and shelters. All of our locations have feline adoption programs with these local groups in-store. Additionally we have rescue groups visit periodically for “adoption days”. Check our website for upcoming dates.

Specks Pet Supplies stores also offer a variety of low cost pet services. Most stores have self-serve dog washes. You bring the dog, we provide the towels, shampoo, dog sized wash tubs, dryers and best of all the clean up!

Many of our locations also offer periodic low cost nail trims and discounted veterinary services. Additionally our Avon store offers top notch dog training and training facility. Check out our website, Facebook page, or contact your local Specks store for dates, pricing and further details.

Services

Training

Becky is a certified evaluator for Therapy Dog International and a certified evaluator for AKC Canine Good Citizen Testing.

She herself has certified therapy dogs. She has over 10 years of understudy/apprenticeship for dog training. She also has taken Animal Assistance Therapy at Ivy Tech. Several area and Indianapolis vets recommend her for training and classes. She frequently donates her time by taking her dogs to area nursing homes.

Veterinary Clinic

The veterinarian spends more time with your pet giving it a full exam along with any vaccinations, micro chipping and also some treatment of minor health issues.

All clinics are first come, first serve - we DO NOT make or take appointments. Please call the store for more information.

Prices below are just a portion of what is available. Package pricing includes prices for a 'healthy pet exam'. Pets with health problems requiring further veterinary attention will have a $10 - $15 extended exam fee added to the price of their package.
