Hello from Diedra, Scott, Carolyn and Zachary; we are The Reeses Barkery Family. Our pet boutique has been a part of the McHenry community for over 19 years.
In 2006, Sharon & Ed Ahrens started Reeses Barkery & Pawtique; they were driven by a desire to provide their beloved chocolate lab with better-quality food.
In November 2020 we stepped into the picture, acquiring Reeses Barkery. We immediately got to work by bringing in new fixtures and sprucing up the place. A 3-door freezer was purchased, and we remodeled twice in the first few months. A third remodel was completed before our 1st Anniversary, and we celebrated this by adding additional space.
Reeses Barkery is more than just a business; we are invested in supporting our community and fellow pet lovers. Fun events for the community, adoption events, volunteering with our Chamber are all things we bring to McHenry! We strive to make a positive impact on McHenry, pets and their owners. Community engagement, commitment to excellence and pet welfare will continue to be important as we grow.
We’ve had pets our entire life. We also noticed a sad trend; quality pet food brands were being gobbled up by bigger corporations. We no longer felt those brands were as good. Giving our pets the very best has always been important to us. As owners, we won’t sell anything we don’t feel comfortable giving to our own pets. We won’t push you to one brand over another. What we will do is lead you around the store, offering education and helping you pick the food you feel works best for you, your pet and your wallet!
We are thrilled to see how the love of one chocolate lab named Reese has grown into the Reeses we are today! We still honor the birth of Reeses (the beloved chocolate lab and the business) by celebrating its birth each March! We are proud of our journey thus far and excited for the adventures that lie ahead.
